The whole operation had a few hiccups, but I was able to transfer my data from the 3DS to my 2DS.  I was able to get the bottom screen working on the 3DS, which is all that I needed to get everything done.  The actual process took about 10 minutes.

The best part is that my Nintendo Network ID is now for my 2DS, meaning I can redownload all my old game files!  I'm gonna have to go buy an 8 or 16GB card now, because I have a lot of catching up to do.

Phew... all in all, the whole procedure cost $35 for the 3DS parts, and $55 for the 2DS from a month back.  Considering that Nintendo charges around $80 on average for system recovery, I spent more, but at least I have the freedom to tinker with the FrankenDS, as I call it now, while possessing all my information on the new 2DS, which is easier to repair, IMO.

So, that's one worry for me to not have to think about anymore, and I can get back to drawing stuff.
